This is not a full liturgical calendar: it lists the 30 feasts in MySavior’s countdown, not every Sunday, memorial or saint’s day (for a saint each day, see the saints calendar).

Catholic holy days of obligation in 2027
Besides every Sunday, canon 1246 of the Code of Canon Law names ten holy days of obligation, and all ten are in the calendar above. Each bishops’ conference may drop some or move them to a Sunday; the notes give the rules in the United States. Check with your parish or diocese.

How dates are set
How the dates of Christian holidays are worked out
Each feast follows one of a few simple rules. MySavior applies the same rules on your iPhone, so its countdown is right for 2027 and every year after.
- 13 keep the same date every year, such as All Saints on November 1 and Christmas on December 25.
- 11 move with Easter: Mardi Gras (47 days before), Ash Wednesday (46 days before), Palm Sunday (7 days before), Holy Thursday (3 days before), Good Friday (2 days before), Holy Saturday (1 day before), Divine Mercy (7 days after), Ascension (39 days after), Pentecost (49 days after), Trinity Sunday (56 days after) and Corpus Christi (60 days after).
- Easter itself is the first Sunday after the Church’s full moon falling on or after March 21. That full moon is taken from church tables rather than watched for in the sky. By this rule, Western Easter always falls between March 22 and April 25.
- Two depend on Christmas: the First Sunday of Advent is the fourth Sunday before Christmas Day, and Christ the King is the Sunday before it.
- Thanksgiving is the fourth Thursday of November, the US date.
- The Annunciation (March 25) and St. Joseph (March 19) keep their dates unless they fall between Palm Sunday and the Sunday after Easter. Then they move: the Annunciation to the Monday after that Sunday, St. Joseph to the Saturday before Palm Sunday. If another feast already holds that day, the move goes one day further.
Some countries and dioceses keep Epiphany, the Ascension and Corpus Christi on a Sunday. This calendar, like the widget, uses January 6 and the Thursdays.

Questions and answers
What are the main Christian holidays in 2027?
In 2027, Ash Wednesday is Wednesday, February 10; Palm Sunday is Sunday, March 21; Good Friday is Friday, March 26; Easter is Sunday, March 28 (Orthodox Easter is Sunday, May 2); Pentecost is Sunday, May 16; the First Sunday of Advent is Sunday, November 28; and Christmas is Saturday, December 25.
What are the Catholic holy days of obligation in 2027?
Canon law names ten besides Sundays, and each bishops’ conference may reduce them. In the United States in 2027 they are Mary, Mother of God (Fri, Jan 1), Ascension (Thu, May 6), Assumption (Sun, Aug 15), Immaculate Conception (Wed, Dec 8) and Christmas (Sat, Dec 25); All Saints falls on a Monday, so the obligation is lifted. Where the Ascension is moved, it is kept on May 9.
Why does my church keep some feasts on a different day?
This calendar uses the traditional Western dates, as the MySavior widget does: Epiphany on January 6, and the Ascension and Corpus Christi on their Thursdays. Many dioceses keep those three on a Sunday, and Orthodox churches date Easter differently.
